My early work documents my move from textiles to painting. It tends to lean towards the representational.
I have worked in oils, oil pastels and experimented with more unconventional mediums.
Today I work mainly with acrylics which are more suited to forms of expressionism.
The landscapes were heavily influenced by the frequent visits I made to Spring Island South Carolina twixt Savanna and Charleston. The big carolina blue skies of the low country, the marshes which change colour with the seasons, the sea islands, and the people fired my imagination. Making beautiful marks in the landscape can be seen as I form a relationship between the paint and the canvas and make my way towards abstraction.
